For those of you who had the unfortunate experience of having your Apple
ID stolen – it could be very distressing especially if you could not
recover the hundreds or thousands of your favorite apps that you had
purchased.
Having your Apple ID stolen could happen to anyone. And it happened to
RumpiTekno on 23 December 2012, two days just before Christmas. An email
from Apple was received informing that an account change had occurred
where RumpiTekno Apple ID was stolen by someone using the email,
lupuslupus40@gmail.com. What a low life jerk!
When your Apple ID is stolen, the original Apple ID together will all
its apps will become somebody else account (in this case, the thief
with the email,
lupuslupus40@gmail.com). If you try to access your stolen Apple ID, it will show up as
No Apple ID found.
Fortunately, for those of us who owns an Apple product, we have
the iTunes Store Customer Support team helping us when we are in need.
If you want to recover your stolen Apple ID, here are the steps you need
to do.
Step 1. Lodge a Report with iTunes Store Support
http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html and then select
Account Security and then provide your Apple ID information and describe your problem as clearly as possible.
When you lodge a report with iTunes Store, you will receive a
case number that will be used as a reference when you contact Account
Security later(explained subsequently).
Step 2: Wait for a Response
From my experience, you can always depend on iTunes Store Customer
Support to reply to you as soon as possible (normally within 24 hours)
with helpful instructions and a smile. I lodged my report twice and I
got a response for both of them!
Step 3: Speak to an Account Security Advisor
iTunes Store Customer Support will provide you with information on
how to contact Account Security. You can speak to an Account Security
Advisor by following these steps:
1. Click
https://expresslane.apple.com/
2. Click on
All Products & Services> iTunes> iTunes Store then for
Topic choose
Account Management > Lost or Forgotten Apple ID password. (Make sure that you choose this option. This is the only option that will not charge you)
3. Choose
Continue
4. You will be given the options to
Talk to Apple Support Now or
Call Apple Support Later, please choose the option that works best for you.
If the hold time is long, you might only have the option to talk with them later.
Step 4: Or Call Account Security Directly
You can also call the Account Security team directly and speak to an
Account Security Advisor by calling our AppleCare technical support
team. Click
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 to see all worldwide telephone support numbers.
For example, the number to contact AppleCare for Indonesia is
0018 03061 2009
(as shown in the Apple website.) However, you cannot use the toll free
number which is only available if you are calling in Singapore as it is
the contact number for iTunes Store Singapore (supporting Indonesia and
maybe some other regions).
To call iTunes Store Singapore direct from Indonesia, use the number
007-65-6480-8392.
You will be received by an automated telephone response and AppleCare
will inform you how long you will have to wait before your call will be
serviced.
Step 5: What to Prepare when you Speak to an Account Security Officer
When your call is connected, inform the Technical Support (who greets
you) that you account had been stolen and that you wish to speak to the
Account Security Officer.
Before you speak to the Account Security Officer, make sure you
have the following prepared as you will require them. When I first spoke
to the Account Security Officer, I was fumbling with all these.
1. Your case number.
2. Serial number of your iPad or any iDevice which you had already
registered that you had used to download apps using your stolen Apple
ID.
3. Answers to the Security Questions of your account that was stolen.
4. A new email account that has not been associated with any Apple ID before.
5. Your computer or iDevice connected to the internet.
Step 6. Getting your Stolen Account Back
The Account Security Officer will (or may) ask the following questions in the following order:
1. Your case number for the initial reference to your case.
2. The serial number of your iDevice which had being registered that you had used to download apps using your stolen Apple ID
3. The answers to the Security Questions of your account that was stolen.
4. A new email account that has not been associated with any Apple ID before.
The Account Security Officer will then create an Apple ID using your
new email account. You will be sent an email to reset the password that
you want with that new Apple ID.
Click
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa to login into your new Apple ID again with your password to verify that you can successfully access the new Apple ID.
The Account Security Officer will subsequently restore all your
purchased apps into the new Apple ID account. That thief that stole
RumpiTekno account tried to hide its path. RumpiTekno Apple ID was
recovered from
chrisjawaadmalik@gmail.com.
You think you can fool RumpiTekno by changing multiple Apple IDs but you can never fool the folks at iTunes Support team.
Step 7: Housekeeping your Recovered Apple ID
Once you had your Apple ID recovered, you should immediately update
your information to reflect your account. For example, the low life that
had stolen the RumpiTekno account had change the original name from
Rumpi Tekno to Rumpi Jawaad Tekno, added an alternate Apple ID (
tekim2009@me.com) and make minor changes to the address.
Step 8: Expect Damage Done
When you had recovered your stolen Apple ID, you should expect some
damage done. Before RumpiTekno Apple ID was stolen, it has a balance
about
$70.00 and that idiot who stole the Apple ID had used up all the monies (leaving a balance of
$0.10).
And that idiot used up most of the monies to buy porno stuff (Inked
Girls Magazine, Maxim+ Magazine and lots of Karma Sutra stuff!) What a
pervert! He is not only a thief but a real pervert!! OMG!!!
Step 9: Thank You
If you had your Apple ID recovered, remember to thank the iTunes
Store Customer Support and Account Security Officer. They had helped us
to recover our stolen Apple ID (or any other problem we may encounter)
and I believe a word of thank you should be in order.
“Thank you to the Magnificent Seven (Beverly, Britney, LaToya,
Audrey, and 3 other iTunes Technical Support team that I spoke to via
telephone) for recovering back RumpiTekno Apple ID. Awesomely grateful.”
I hope none of us had to go through the ordeal of losing an Apple
ID with lots of goodies in it! But if you do lose it, you can recover
your stolen Apple ID with these steps.
